NONSTOP STAKES SUCCESS!
At Mike Ryan Bloodstock, we let the results speak for themselves. Since 1979, we’ve been purchasing young horses and bloodstock both privately and at public auction. Our purchases have resulted in numerous stakes winners over the years, including champions Fly So Free and Caressing.
2003 was our biggest year ever, including G1 winners Russian Rhythm (also Europe’s Cartier Champion 3-Year-Old Filly) and Whitmore’s Conn.
2004 brought some of our most exciting pinhook experiences yet. We had purchased a Stephen Got Even yearling in 2003 for $157,000 and resold him at the Fasig-Tipton Calder 2YO Sale for a then-world-record $3.1 million. We topped that amount shortly after at the Keeneland April 2YO Sale when we sold a Pulpit colt (that we had purchased the year prior for $170,000) for $3.3 million, which remains the second-highest price ever paid at auction for a juvenile. Similar pinhooks in the past have included eventual G1 winner Yonaguska, a $145,000 purchase in 1999 that we resold as a sales-topping $1.95 million 2-year-old in 2000.
